What talents could we use for a toddler in a beauty pageant?

We are entering a five year old in a beauty pageant and are wondering what type of talents could be used in the talent portion. She is a great singer and can catch easily onto most other things. Thanks for your help!|||If she enjoys pageants than I think that would be fun for her!

make sure that she likes the talent you choose, I have seen so many pageants where the kids hate the talent they choose and they don't try or put any effort into it. The kids that actually like what there talent is try very hard and do well..

maybe try singing a song, dancing to a song ( a really good song for pageants is proud mary ) and maybe she could do some gymnastics like summer salts or cart wheels?

good luck!|||NONE! Toddlers shouldn't be traumatized by this kind of stage-mom exposure. Don't fall into the beauty pageant trap! Let your kid grow up normal!|||Ask her what she wants to do, sing her favorite song, recite a poem, etc. She will know what she's best at.|||this. is. sad. :-(|||Drooling or screaming.|||thast really mean to do to a little kid|||Why? In your own words define beauty and ugliness ? How ugly and beautiful are you?

Here is my answer.

Beauty is being wise at everything you do.

beauty is spreading goodness everywhere you go.

Beauty is being open-minded, loving nature, having good manners.

Beauty is being selfless.

Beauty is loving without expecting love in return

Beauty is respecting all living things.

Beauty is having self-esteem.

Beauty is going through life and seeing beauty in everyone else .

My definition of ugliness is the opposite of my definition of beauty.

i am beautiful in that i am kind to everyone else, i have self-esteem, i am open-minded . i am ugly in that i am lazy, I am quite unorganized, I can be critical of others.

OK serious now.. Beauty is.. attraction, positive personality, and intelligence

Ugliness well ugliness is ... the total opposite of Beauty I guess|||Physical beauty is having clear smooth-looking skin and symmetrical facial features. What makes beauty spots appear on our skin?

What allows or makes beauty spots appear on our skin? Also, why do they disappear sometimes? Is it a chemical process, if so what is it and how does it work?|||Basically, it's where melanin (the stuff that colors your skin) packs up into one small spot. When moles disappear, that's the melanin spreading back out.

What field of science or technology does medicines and beauty products belong to ?

please help me. im so confused. i dont know where beauty products and medicines belong to what field. Your answers will be very helpful!|||Beauty products are close to regular chemistry and clinical research. I guess you are talking actually designing them and making formulas.

They are really two separate fields though.

Cosmetics are mainly just that, just for the surface and top layer of skin, whereas medicine affects the entire thickness of the skin or the entire body.

If I had to narrow them down I would say Dermatology and Pharmacy. They are very close, good question.|||Actually, they both fall scientifically in the field of Pharmaceuticals. or the understanding of that field which is Pharmacology.

What do you think the stereotypical view of beauty is?

According to a press release, Doves campaign for real beauty is supposed "to make women feel more beautiful every day by challenging today's stereotypical view of beauty and inspiring women to take great care of themselves". What is the stereotypical view of beauty they are referring to?|||White, skinny, tall blonde. Straight nose, high cheeck bones, big pouty lips, perfect smile, big eyes with long curly eyelashes.|||Just flip through a fashion magazine and there it is.

Definition from dictionary.com: something excellent of its kind.

Yet, we still consider beauty the stereotypical tall woman, with thin legs and boney arms, with perfectly straight/curled hair, curly lashes, and pouted lips, (also known as, a model). Sure, there are women out there like this, who are beautiful. But that's not just it..or is it?

I know young girls who are literally like 80-90 pounds who are afraid of being fat, or think they are fat. It sickens me to death, and I wish there was something I could do to erase this off everyones mind, including mine. I hate my looks, and many women do, but what can you do when you think of those models who weigh 90 pounds, are filthy rich, and have hot boyfriends? Nothing but wish.|||a person with confidence!!!! How is beauty in the eye of the beholder?

I understand everyone has a preference. How come certain types of girls and boys are desired? I've known girls who literally everywhere they go even in sweats at least 3 or more guys will hit on. It makes me wonder how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I agree not everyone will find that girl attractive but it seems like they are certain girls generally most guys will find attractive. What is it about them that makes more desired by the opposite sex?|||what alyssa said, what beauty is varies from person to person, beauty cannot be measured

I personally prefer the quote "beauty is only skin deep"

Who is more easily hired to work in a beauty salon?

I was wondering is it easier for a manicurist/pedicurist or a facialist to find a job in a beauty salon? Which one makes better money?|||Personally, I think you are looking at it all wrong. From what I am reading, it seems as though you will choose whichever is more profitable. You will not be doing the beauty industry - or yourself, any favors by doing this. The most successful people in the beauty industry are in it because they love what they do. The ones who go into any field for nothing other than financial gain tend to be miserable, and very unhappy with their work. Don't pick one career over another simply because your earning potential is greater. Instead, pick a career that you will enjoy doing. It will not only give you more job satisfaction in the long run, but it will also benefit the beauty industry as well. Even more than that, your potential future clients will gain from your being in the job because you love what you are doing. Do it just for the money, and they are the ones who lose. Its usually quite evident if a person really loves what they do, or not. If you aren't happy with your work, and do not show enthusiasm each and every day, then don't plan on making much money in either because you won't have many clients wanting services from you. Its as simple as that. Sure, you might get some here and there, but when they sense that you aren't really happy with your work, they'll just find someone who is and give their business to them instead. Just something to think about...|||More women get mani/pedis than facials, so my money's on the manicurist.|||i think it;s a market for all but it depends on the quality of the salon and also the city or town you are in and locations are the best way to decide. look at the quality of the neighboorhood your working in. i'd try something upscale where the money is.|||it depends on the city and the salon. not all salons offer all services. a lot of estheticians (who do facials) work in spas instead of salons. a hair dresser obviously has an easier way in to a salon, and possibly a nail tech in most areas.|||The art of a facial is very difficult to master. However, if you do, you will make more money as a facialist than as a manicurist or pedicurist.

A good facialist is very difficult to find, most spa goers will tip their facialist appreciatively because of this.

Manicurists and pedicurists are very common. It may be easy to find a job, but you will not make as much in tips as a facialist.

Hope this helps!|||Do both. With proper organization you could scedule apointments for both if the salon you are working in could accomodate you.

How much can a guy improve in terms of beauty by dressing smart?

Do you think a guy that's ugly can look way more attractive to girls if for instance, he dresses with suit and tie? I am talking about a guy that's a 3 out of 10 in terms of beauty becoming a 5 or even a 6. Do you think such thing is possible?|||HAHA, such a goal is very achievable. There are very few ugly people out there, only lazy people. You have to be well groomed, maintain a decent haircut and where moderately expensive clothes. All these will improve and enhance your image. Also, you need to be physically fit. Boys are lucky in that way, as if they work out they can look good. All of these jigsaw pieces will complete you or whoever your talking about. Trust me my young paduan.|||I definitely think it's possible for a guy to improve his looks but not just by wearing better clothing. Plus, keep in mind that a suit and tie is not appropriate for all occasions. Try a new popular hairstyle as well.|||Looks shouldn't count. Personality should!

Wear what you feel comfortable in. Confidence is the key.

Look smart if you wish but be confident. Show your personality and humour and you'll be fine.|||In the 1880's Mark Twain coined the phrase " clothes make the man" and I don't think he was too far out.

How do you become a beauty pageant coach?

I've never been interested in being IN beauty pageants, but I want to be a coach. I don't know how one begins being a coach, so please explain how. And if you've been in beauty pageants, or coached someone in pageants, please please please post.|||I currently compete in beauty pageants. In order for you to become a coach, you really need to be involved in the pageant community--otherwise you won't have any girls to coach. Mothers chose coaches who can help their daughters win, and this means experience. Try working as a vendor (Hair and Makeup, hair rolling, tanning, etc.) first. This will help you to establish yourself in the pageant community. Many coaches have first-hand experience and competed themselves, which is something that gives them an edge. If you sing or dance, advertise yourself as a talent coach and then you could perhaps expand. The best way though would probably be to help out a pageant coach, start off as an assistant coach. Eventually you may be made a partner, or you'll have enough experience and know-how to branch off on your own. Good luck!|||do lots o' ,meth. you'll fit televisions description

How can I protect a good idea for a beauty treatment?

I have an idea for a brilliant new beauty treatment, that will instantly be copied by all companies. How do I protect ownership rights? Even though it is so simple anyone can do it?|||You would need to get a Patent on this idea of yours. Your first step would be to visit the USPTO (United States Patent %26amp; Trademark Office) website and do a search to ensure its not already patented.

Then go see a Patent attorney. It will be very expensive, and take a long time to get a patent. You could do it yourself if you have the knowledge, but it is a very complicated process, and if you do it wrong, then its worthless to you. And don't use one of the fly-by-night companies you see on TV that promise to patent your ideas, they are mostly scams.

Every wondered how those trollish-looking old men get the models? Pockets full of cash and a written will.

Besides that, it depends on how you dress "smart". A suit and tie is not appropriate for every situation. What is the explanation for beauty trends?

I'm wondering if there is a psychological or physiological explanation to all beauty trends? I know the reasoning behind some, such as in the past, heavier women were more appealing because it signified wealth. Why, now, is skinny more attractive? Why is body hair considered unattractive on women, and why do women wear certain types of makeup like heavy eyeliner, etc? What are the thoughts behind beauty trends throughout the ages?|||It's all about celebrity. They set many of the trends. Celebrities dress a certain way, and the people who love them do the same. Ta-Da! Trend!|||I believe It comes from nature. Designers get inspired by the world, space, universe. It all comes from nature. Now body size. People develop different ideas. Like in some countries women with bigger hips are considered to be beautiful because it is easier to carry a baby. Skinny might be beautiful because they can be carried. They are light, and "feminine" Have you ever thought of the difference of the beauty between a pornstar and a fashion model? The body of pornstars all vary, but most are with big chests and big bottoms. Most of those women are skinny, and who are the people viewing them? Men. And who are we trying to please? Men. And p0rn has grown so much. So it is hard to be looking like a pornstar, you know what I mean?|||People at the front of style and fashion create new things and others, who emulate those people, follow.

For instance: Margaret Keane paints paintings of children, lost, sad, with pets, with giant eyes - and the paintings become sought, well-regarded. What are all the songs that Lumiere sings in Beauty and the Beast?

I need a list of all the songs that Lumiere sings in "Beauty and the Beast". I know "Be Our Guest" is one of them. The cast has not gotten their scripts yet, so this is why I am wondering.|||It depends, which version are you doing?

The stage version or the disney version.

Something There

Human Again

It really does depend on the version you are doing. "Something There" is in the film, but I don't know about the musical...I haven't seen it in nearly ten years. :( "Human Again" was an add-on to both movie and musical. "Be Our Guest" is his biggest show-stopper!

Are child beauty pageants followers checked for pedophiles?

These days there are a lot of weird kiddy fetishists out there.

Do any child beauty pageant organizers check regular pageant followers to see if they are pedophiles, and do they restrict the use of private cameras.

(No, I'm not entering a child in one, or planning to go to one, I just want to know).|||I wondered that same thing!!! These girls are dressed like women any perverts fantasy!

The other question you should be asking is what kind of mental damage these pageants are doing to these young girls. They are judged on looks and then awarded for being cute or pretty or even sexy at 7!! These young girls are getting so messed up, and are learning the lesson that looks are all that matter.

Now I know some defender of the great pageant way is going to come on here and say that it teaches them self respect, it teaches them to loose and BLAH BLAH BLAH, but how can any parent justify parading their daughter around like a mini street walker!! Please for the love of all that is holy don't say "Well they can win a lot of money" because that is why street walkers become street walkers!! ALSO don't say well my daughter loves doing them NO you as the adult love doing them NOT her!! How does a 10 month old love doing anything but drooling? I live in an area where child pageants are huge. I won't even start in on my opinion because it will take up the whole page, in a rant.

But yes, this is one of the BIG issues I have with pageants. I have been to several and at every single one you can pretty much spot the weird pedo guys sitting alone with their camera in the audience. It's totally creepy.

Pageants are open to the public. And while pedos are not ALLOWED to go, it would be impossible to screen people at the door. Also, not all pedo's are on the sex offender list. Loads have never been busted for their crimes.

Yuk. The whole thing creeps me out.

I don't think there are any prerequisites, they are teaching you a skill, maybe a little artistic ability and good dexterity. Good Luck.|||Probably dedication to and passion for the craft. I know a lot of people who drop out of beauty school after a semester. The school doesn't want to waste time teaching someone who doesn't want to be there or thinks they're just taking the easy way out. On any type of application you should demonstrate why you deserve and want to be a part of whatever you're applying for.|||That information is not easy to find because it does not exist. What is more shallow, only wanting a woman for beauty or only wanting a man for money?

To be completely honest, I think some women want a wealthy husband so their kids can have the best life possible. So I think it's more shallow to want a partner only because of beauty.

Not saying both of those couldn't be reversed, but you hear that men are 'visual creatures' and women want providers more than the other way around.|||Equally shallow. If you don't want someone for who they are, but rather what they can give you or do for you, then you are a shallow person.

Edit:

There is nothing wrong with wanting an attractive partner or wanting financial stability. But if that is the only thing that draws you to a person, then you are shallow, and likely to end up very unhappy.|||Beauty is an indicator of youth and fertility in a woman. Being a normal male who wishes to have children of his own, fertility is not-at-all shallow REQUIREMENT for me to date a woman with any serious intent. So desiring some level of beauty is not shallow. But I would and have never gone so far with it as to require supermodel good looks.

Likewise, desiring a modest level of income in a man is not shallow, as it indicates an ability to provide for children. Requiring an exorbitant amount of income IS shallow however, as it is totally unnecessary other than to make a woman feel that she has high social status.

So both are shallow in excess, but not in moderation.|||Both, honestly. If you choose to be with someone due to only one aspect of them, you are setting your life up for failure if feelings on that singular point fade or change. In other words, you may no longer find a person as attractive or their wealth so appealing, or the wealth or beauty may fade over time. It's not enough to choose one point of a person and base love only that. Any relationship, especially romantic, should be about the many attributes we all have, and their compatibility.

I'm in love with a woman now because of many reasons, including her beauty, intelligence and personality.|||No wanting wealth is material wanting beauty is an interest in the human.

I think feminists and many women will move the goal posts depending on which ever works out best for them, for example when it comes to a woman going for wealth, its not shallow, when a woman is selling sex cheaply and without strings its a crime (because she is undercutting). When a woman is bedding hot men because they are hot, its empowering and when a man does the same it becomes shallow.|||I'm going to go with money as being way more shallow. (I'm not sure why you put genders in there--men are money-grabbing whores as well, sometimes. And women like a good-looking guy as much as anyone else)

It's a god bet that if someone is beautiful, s/he is symmetrical, which indicates good health. So, ultimately, wanting a good-looking partner is about getting a healthy partner. (However, if a guy finds a Bunny who has high cholesterol, I doubt he's kicking her out of bed because she's sick)|||If the two got together, it would be a perfect match.

You assume that the woman wants the best for her kids. So you answered your own question.

Both are pretty shallow, beauty can be taken away in heartbeat and fades anyway. A guy could go bankrupt especially in the this economy. If the guy really has the money, he can take an plain woman and make her beautiful. The reverse is not true.|||The word "only" makes it shallow... There is nothing wrong with wanting someone because they're beautiful... Beauty is a sign of health, but if you only want her because she's beautiful...that's shallow.

There's nothing wrong with wanting someone financially stable...but if you only want someone because of their wealth, or financial status... That's being shallow.|||beautiful people usually have good genetics, so beauty is sought after in order to pass the genetics to their children.

and money, well that's sought after in order to provide children with a good start in life.

both are shallow, but they're totally reasonable, because our purpose in life is to reproduce.

Ivy

x|||I sdon't think either is very sensible. You have to live with someone, after all, and neither beauty nor money is enough to sustain a satisfactory relationship. Beauty can fade with time, and people can lose money. You need other things to keep a marriage going.|||Beauty often signifies good health/genetics. Thus men who procreate with beautiful women instinctual believe that their children will be healthier. Women who find wealthy men know that their children will be will provided for. The point that I am getting at is that we are all baboons.|||well wanting a woman for beauty is a natural instinct. Wanting a man for money is materialistic so money is more shallow.|||It's not shallow for men to be attracted to looks, but it is probably shallow if they just stop there and don't look at the personality.|||Equally shallow. If you don't want someone for who they are then it's automatic hypocrisy... Pretending to like them for something else.|||All of that is shallow and distasteful to me. Either way it's about using someone.|||How much money? It lasts longer than beauty.|||So this is why rich women are single.|||Both because when either run out, what are you going to do then?|||i dont judge, normally.|||Actually, neither is shallow. A woman's beauty is reflective of health and fertility and, consequently, reflects a woman's ability to have children. A man's wealth is reflective of his ability to care for a woman during and after pregnancy. Both reflect mutual desire for commitment and family and neither are necessarily shallow unless they are reduced to crass shallowness.

Feminists have tried to classify deep and important signals such as these as nothing but sexual overtones. Feminists have incorrectly interpreted these things as "shallow" because...well...they're wrong about most everything.

Where can i find a piano tutorial for the Beauty and the Beast Prologue?

Its the music that plays at the beginning of Beauty and the Beast (when the narrator speaks) and its titled Prologue and i was wondering if someone had posted a YouTube video of a piano tutorial of this, can anyone tell me where i can find a video of a tutorial (preferably step-by-step instruction)?

How can I write a poem in honor of my beauty? How can I get something like that published for all to enjoy?

Lets face it I'm breathtaking and I would love to write a poem in honor of my beauty. How do I go about writing a poem? Do poems have to rhyme? For a peak at my beauty feel free to view my questions I'm too lazy to post a link to my beauty on this question........ If you would like to submit a poem in honor of my beauty I'd so e-love you. But it must be original because I am original.|||I couldn't possibly write a poem that would do justice to your beauty! Poems don't have to rhyme as such, just let your creativity have free reign and I'm sure it will be a wonderful celebration of you.|||Thanks for the laugh! :P

No, poems don't have to rhyme. Just write from your heart and start submitting like mad---I doubt it'll ever get published, though.|||How adorable is that. No it doesn't have to rhyme. But, let's face it, poetry honoring beauty is best written by the observer and not the observed about themselves.|||And it was just an hour ago someone asked what is it called when someone is constantly looking in the mirror at themselves? Basically someone who thinks they are that beautiful?

"Narcissism" was my answer.

Had I known; I would have directed the kid to your site!

I would direct you to the Oxford dictionary for the words; 'apathy' %26amp; ' arrogance'.|||I asked my mirror on the wall

"Who's the fairest of them all?"

My mirror answered: "You", it said.

(Or was it the voices in my head?)

I gazed upon my lovely face,

With not a pimple, not a trace

Of flaw or blotch, no spots to see.

(I'm gorgeous, really, honestly!)

I told myself that I'm "The One"

Whom ugly folk would gaze upon.

The reason that they feel so plain.

And then I told myself again.

My beauty knows no bounds, you see.

I'm flawless, true, and so sexy.

My life enhances all around,

And yes, my ego knows no bounds.

I'm full of me, I love my hair,

My button nose, my underwear.

I love my style, I love my wit.

ADDENDUM : Thanks to both "a*perfect*teardrop" and "the lil love lady" (by e-mail) for their kind words. It's nice to know that the beauty of the written word transcends the petty narcissism of the flesh. And yes, the poem IS an original, done "on the fly" especially for this answer.

.

FURTHER ADDENDUM : Having had a look through the other questions that "Beautiful" has posted, I'm torn between whether it's a totally fake profile, set up purely to irritate people (in which case I thoroughly approve) or it's a perfectly straight profile, written by a quite ordinary-looking girl who's got serious issues. Tough one to call, so I'll reserve judgement.

I am a 14, soon to be 15 year old girl and want to know what i can put in a emergency beauty and fashion kit. I want it to be a celebrity style, meaning i want it to be stuff that will make me look sort of like a celebrity but still be appropriate for school. Is "Beauty Secrets" for nails a good acrylic? How do I tell which acrylics will yellow?

I bought a cheap kit and gave myself acrylic nails. The nails turned yellow. I have learned that cheap acrylic such as Kiss turns yellow, so I want to use better acrylic from now on.

I bought "Beauty Secrets" at Sally's. Is that a good acrylic? How do I tell which acrylics will yellow and which ones won't?|||I agree with the last answer for the most part. I'm a licensed nail tech and yeah, she's right. Even some of the professional only acrylic (and gel) product lines are crappy. Anyway...

I have seen 'Beauty Secrets' products in Sally's but I was not impressed with them for some reason. I don't recall why but they just didn't seem like a very good brand. But then again, I could be wrong. It might work just fine for your needs. Try it for a while and see if you like it?

There is one brand they sell at Sally's that I've gotten samples of from various trade shows I go to and that is A.S.P. (Aspire?) which works fairly well. It's about the best you can get without a license but it is a bit pricey. It costs about the same as many professional acrylic products. I think they sell trial size kits in the $15-$25 range. Just a thought!

Best wishes|||well, Polymer will turn yellow if it has been under the sunlight or you are a smoker. After the product is applied it can also turn yellow with base and top coat, and lets not forget on the liquid use with it, there are non-yellow ones on the market too! I'm not saying Gel is better. |||all acrylics are basically the same polymer, that's why they can all be removed by soaking in acetone.

it's the effect seen with acetone that's a hallmark of susceptibility for penetration by all kinds of other stuff. it's the other "stuff" that makes acrylics turn yellow.

i've had all kinds of acrylic in the past and found nearly all of them changes color and got a stained appearance.

now gel is completely different ---------- it's not dissolved by acetone or most anything else. it's a different polymer material. any of the decent uv-gels will stay crystal clear, naturally shiny, and they're a bit more flexible so they feel better if applied in proper-thickness layers.

my suggestion? gradually switch over to gel.

i switched to gel a while ago and i'll never go back. the gel is more like a super durable base coat that protects my natural nails, and the gel looks so natural you'd never know i have gels if i leave off the color polish.

How many women try to go for the natural beauty look?

I mean natural beauty at least without wearing any foundation or powder, and take care of your skin to make it look good, instead of painting over it.|||One can protect the skin exposed to the sun and wind, have fun doing it, and still look natural. The first reason to apply anything to the skin should be for protection, so why not enjoy doing it? Very few people have to have anything on their skin all the time, except for sun screen when going outdoors and the tinted moisturizers are great for that, easy and inexpensive.|||By default, yes. My skin does not look good because I had a year of really bad acne and picked at my skin a lot, but it is getting a lot better and it is looking healthier with the exception of red marks and minor uneven texture on my cheeks. I haven't worn foundation since 2009, though, when my skin was mostly clear. I also don't really "take care" of my skin, I let my skin (as well as hair and body) take care of itself by means of only using water. It's looking far healthier now that I stopped trying to care for it.|||I try to go for my natural look when my skin looks good (summer) . I have acne marks so i feel like people are staring if i dont cover it. but i wear foundation/coverup and mascara. i don't like too much makeup, i like the natural look %26amp; if i wear any eye shadow its mostly browns and highlight tones so my eyes stand out.

IF i had no marks and my skin was mostly even, i would deff not use any foundation . Natural is better :)|||Yup. My skin isn't too bad, so I normally don't wear foundation or powder.

However, I have a lot of hyper pigmentation from acne, so I do use concealer to cover that up.

Ironically, I'm a makeup artist. People always expect makeup artists to wear a ton of makeup, but I love letting my skin breathe. I love eye makeup and lipstick though.|||well i do wear powder but just to even out my skin... and it matches the color of my skin so it's not like im faking it or anything

Why is beauty so important to people? And why is perfection important to people?

What could be the dangers of chasing after beauty and perfection? And why is it so important to people?|||It is 'appeal' and it says, 'I am ok'.

Even a slight scratch on a car's paintwork or a dent in the body, while maybe not impairing engine function, still says something is wrong in this world - it is not the way it rolled off the production line, a mishap occurred, this life has marred it....

To have achieved and sustained a beautiful state of perfection for so long that it is the norm is just an exercise in earning the laurels you could rest on for it - in such a world pension schemes would not fail, health care would be the best ever, memories would all be treasurable....|||Everything is beaty, is a world run by beaty. While the ugly are working backstage. Ex. models and the ones seting everything up aren't so "perfect".|||Some people spend their lives searching for perfection but it's just not possible because we are all human and humans are never perfect. Personally I don't care about perfection or beauty, I just want a normal, average girl.|||Because people are always so worried about what people think...|||This is a huge question. Really delving into the way the human mind works, seriously - very deep.

If you don't mind - I'll answer a little superficially.

When I was sixteen I had an enormous group of friends, and we met regularly and had good times. That was pretty much the extent of things. We never arranged meetings because we all used to gravitate toward a particular spot at a particular time. I'm sure if I were to be transported to that spot at that time right now, I would be horrified by everyone there - but my memories are happy!

Nowadays it seems young people can't even go to the toilet without "twittering" to the world that they're doing it, in real time. Or posting a picture of the "event" onto their facebook page.

Why? Mobile phone cameras, that's why.

It seems that with CCTV, cameras in every phone and reality telly - nobody expects to leave the house these days without being 'captured' and then shared and judged on the internet.

As for perfection, as people accept that they're going to be the next YouTube sensation and make millions they feel that they have to look perfect at all times.

So, those are the reasons that a certain class of people feel that beauty and "perfection" are important.

As for the dangers of this obsession?

The ex-Princess, commoner Diana Spencer anyone? Jade Goody?|||Ego, and the human tendency to want more no matter how "successful" they are. I really recommend reading "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. It answers this in detail, why people strive to be perfect.|||It is only important to those who chase it. Fact of the matter is that perfection is unattainable. There is a saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that is very true otherwise less than beautiful people would never marry. Media has a large part to play. When I was a child body image and beauty did not figure in our lives. These days children as young as 5 or 6 are concerned about body image, being thin and beautiful. That is one of the reasons for eating disorders be it bulimia or anorexia. It is all about being what is considered to be socially acceptable which is a shame really as it should be about being accepted as the person anyone is and not what they look like.|||Beauty is important in this world we live in because every one wants to be comfortable in their skin.

You can develop skin cancer from tanning so much.

Plastic surgery can be fatal in the end, even after the surgery went well.|||Chasing after perfection is better than settling with mediocrity.

Where are beauty and fashion books located in public libraries?

Is there a specific place for beauty and fashion books to be listed in the library according to the dewey decimal system?

Is it the same in every library?

Thanks in advance.|||The Dewey decimal system is the same everywhere. I believe fashion would be in the 391s and the Beauty in the 646ish. Be sure to ask your local librarian for more help, that's what they went to school for.

=)|||If your library has a teen section the teen beauty and fashion books will be located in the nonfiction part of the teen section.

The regular beauty and fashion books will be located in nonfiction near the home and garden books though this could just be at my local library.

What are the physical traits that makes a classic beauty?

I'm talking about women Lena Horna, Marylyn Monroe,Jane Russell,Eva Gardner, and Dorthy Dandrigde. Why do we rarely see that kind of beauty anymore? And when we do why is it so refreshing?|||The beauty these women have is a "natural" beauty. Meaning, they look good at all times with or without makeup on. They look sexy and beautiful, even when they awake in the morning. The only makeup they need is to highlight there attractive features. The facial structure, sparkling eyes and hair to match is very appealing to the public, especially the men... LOL. They didn't try to flaunt their looks as some women in the limelight do today. Their personalities are also a very attractive trait. Today we very rarely see this kind of beauty, and I suppose it has to do with societies view on sexuality.. Seems we need to see more "flesh" and "sexy" attitudes, unlike the beautiful women of yesteryear. When we see a classic beauty today, it brings back memories of just what true beauty really is.. It is something that has been lost over time and needs to be brought back into plain view...|||We absolutely see that kind of beauty today. Eye of the beholder I guess but if you cant say....just go to the mall and see at least one gorgeous woman I think you may be lost in the fifties like Ronny Milsap. All the classic traits are there its just that pointy bras and hairdos that require 1/2 can of hairspray arent much in style these days for the most part. Sounds like youre maybe a big breast fan too. Personally Ive seen plenty of what I consider classicly beautiful woman with small breasts. I think theyre sexier. I really hate to see a woman with sexy small breasts go and ruin them with implants.|||The clothes are too skimpy these days.|||not fake. natural makeup. sexy (but not showy) clothing.|||What all these women achieve is quite astonishing really. Ok they are naturally attractive but somehow they project an image that is very sexy: simultaneously the image says I love sex and I am amazing at it but I am also nice not a tart or slutty in any way.

It's all image of course you can only judge people on their actions and motives.|||Square jawline, high cheekbones and deep setted eyes.|||Symmetrical features on the face and clear skin are considered to be most appealing to the eye and is the standard of beauty around the world for thousands of years.|||To the original question just look in the mirror and smile that is classic beauty! It's refreshing to see it because we know that it does exist even if we choose to not believe it!|||An hourglass figure with platinum blond hair and red red lips.|||We dont see the

kind of beuty they have because not that many people are naturally that beautiful, there are typically 'beautiful'girls you see probably all the time, but all those women had something individual about them, thats what made them truly beautiful.|||beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

that and the fact that these ladies you mention had private lives to a much larger degree than celebs today. Not to mention they were much more mysterious (not all their affairs in the street) and it made ppl much more intrigued and in awe of them. They may have been as out there as some of the newbie celebs..but the studios never let their fans see that side of them. Kept them larger than life and very lady like....

They were pretty but the fact that they were "perfect" was what sold them....

so when we "see" young stars like Hallie, Alisha Keyes, Charlize....we put them on a little higher pedestal...not just for being pretty but for being decent ppl that seem to carry themselves and their lives with some form of discipline and decorum...makes us a little more respectful of them because they are of themselves.|||high cheek bones, full lips, piecing eyes, nice skin, nice *** lol

How can someone ban child beauty pageants in the United States?

I know this is harsh, but so are what some parents are doing to their little girls. How does this idea eventually become a bill and then a law? WHO is going to ban these beauty pageants?

I need this for a persuasive speech and I need a solution and how can the United States ban child beauty pageants?|||Not all child beauty pageants are bad.

There are two main types of child beauty pageants:

Glitz-The types of pageants that are on tv are the glitz pageants. I think that these types of pageants are horrible and should be banned.

Natural-The natural pageants actually aren't nearly as bad as you think they are. These pageants are totally different from glitz pageants and the focus in on inner and outer beauty.

As for the differences, make-up is encouraged in glitz pageants while most natural pageants don't allow make-up for contestants under the13 years old. Swimsuits are rarely worn by children in natural pageants but that is a common occurrence in glitz pageants. False teeth, wigs, and other beauty alterations are frequently seen in glitz pageants but not allowed in natural competitions. Contestants in natural pageants are rated largely by their interview but glitz participants are mostly judged on their appearance.|||Contact your congressman. Or do it on a State level first. Contact your State legislature and explain why you think beauty pageants are harmful to children. Do you have an age cut off in mind?

Contact child psychologists see what they think. You are bound to find one that agrees with you.

If you got States that ban certain kinds of fats and other weird things, you may have a chance.|||Honestly, this is a very tough question to answer for your persuasive speech, like I gave a speech dead on about should or should not the kids get the H1N1 flu shot, but on the subject of child beauty pageants, they should be banned. My reason: it was exploited on T.L.C. (The Learning Channel) and by the looks of it, there could be a rise of child molesters trying to harm girls who are in small beauty pageants. If it is not stopped, then the US will have a load of peds coming into the beauty pageants and see those girls, trying to get an idea. This is bit of a hard argument to swallow, if you know what I am saying.|||The only way that you could get anywhere with that is to prove that these children are in danger and/or being abused. It would not be possible to show that this is the case with each child, therefore

the pageants themselves could not be banned. As much as I am against government interfering I think I would make an exception for this

Peronally the parents of these children need parenting classes, they have no clue. I am appalled at how stupid they sound when rationalizing their decision to enter these children in pageants.

1. She loves to be on stage

2. She is a natural entertainer

They come up with all sorts of excuses

These parents are doing it for themselves, not for the kids, There are so many reasons for this being wrong, not the least of where the heck is their taste? Do they think that putting big hair wigs, makeup and costumes that would look overdone on a hooker is attractive? I serioudly doubt that these parents have IQs above double digits.

How does a women without curves embrace her beauty?

How does a women with a ruler shape embrace her beauty without making it look like she has curves she doesn't? What are clothes that she can wear to make her figure look flattering without adding something she doesn't have, but rather making the figure she does have look beautiful? What are ways she should carry herself?|||I love how you're trying to embrace the body you have instead of changing it into something that's not part of you. Beautiful.

If you're on the thin side of the ruler -- god knows how many models would kill for a body like yours! Get clothes that "belt up" under the bust, clothes that are human shaped (no bag-like clothing or you might look like you're going to get lost!) Don't try the revealing tops because that will just emphasize your small chest. Boat-neck tops are always pretty on thin people with angular bones.

If you're just a ruler because of it -- perhaps straight jeans? Or those wide-legged (dress)pants that go straight down, and it doesn't matter if you don't have large curves, those pants were made to go straight down. Wear simple clothes, items that have clean cuts and solid shapes to make up for your straight body.

Carry yourself like any woman who believes in the body she's born with -- with confidence. No matter what your type is, hold your head up straight, but not too high up that you're looking over people's noses. Keep your shoulders back and your back straight, and know that you're beautiful for being you. Your confidence will improve your overall look.

Hope this helps a bit. I may not be a fashion expert, but I believe in experimenting. Go try on various styles and maybe something will pop out for you -- fitting rooms don't come at a cost.

Try www.besleek.com

They have a shape calculator which categorizes your shape into X, A, V, H and then gives you a sample closet of what styles could flatter your shape.

i have a vast knowledge of cosmetics and fragrance and i am going to college soon and plan to major in business management and marketing, but how exactly would i go about becoming a buyer particularly in the beauty industry? would i need to also attend cosmetology school to broaden my knowledge of cosmetics?|||As you said that you already have extensive knowledge of cosmetics and fragrance than you can work for yourself by establishing yourself an Independent Fashion Buyer that purchases orders on behalf of your clients. What facts support this notion involving women in the beauty industry?

I argue that women who work in the beauty industry (make-up sales, perfume sales, sephora, beauty product floor of a department store, esthetitcians, cosmetology, skin care, spa owners) locate their agency according to corporate empowerment, self-designed beauty standards, and opportunities for fiscal growth and self-support. Women in the US have historically faced obstacles upon entry into many industries. Generally, because many industries are dominated by male-centric values and corporate life isn鈥檛 always suiting to a woman. However women have done well in the beauty industry, what are the statistics and facts that support this notion?|||The 'beauty industry' provides a number of low-wage retail positions (make up sales, perfume sales, sephora, beauty product floor of a department store) and low wage service positions (estheticians, cosmetology, skin care) which hardly lead to 'empowerment', nor financial self-sufficiency.

Women may do well by figuring out the percentage of women employed in such positions, but doubtfully if you are comparing the wages earned by a similar age and educated male labor set.
