What is the best beauty school in Memphis?

I am looking into attending a beauty school in Memphis, Tennessee. Which is the best school? There are quite a few. Paul Mitchell, Empire Beauty School, Tennessee Academy, etc. I know that Empire has a few bad comments (from the same person) online but they are for different %26amp; distant cities. I would love to have comments, information regarding anything %26amp; everything (cost, what to expect, etc.) from some actual hair stylists.|||I know of two cosmetology resource sites that list great cosmetology schools. Check out Beauty School (http://www.beautyschool.com) and Beauty School Directory (http://www.beautyschoolsdirectory.com) to find cosmetology schools in Memphis. Both sites are easy to use and can help you with just about any question you have about beauty school. Plus, you can request free information from any of the schools that look interesting.

Also check out My Social Beauty (http://www.mysocialbeauty.com). Its the beauty social networking site for the cosmetology industry. You can connect with other beauty students, teachers and professionals and it has tons of great articles and beauty advice by Kimberley Bosso and other beauty celebrities and beauty experts in the industry. I use it often!

They have a top cosmetology schools guide that is pretty cool also. http://www.mysocialbeauty.com/find-a-cos鈥?/a>

And one more helpful thing. If you have any questions about cosmetology school - programs, tuition costs, salaries, careers, you can find answers to all your beauty questions here... http://www.beautyschoolsdirectory.com/fa鈥?/a>|||Have you looked at Vatterott College? It's a great beauty school in Memphis and was founded in 1969.

Here's a link to a site which has some more information, and it's worth your while requesting information from the school itself (there's a link on the site), as this will help you find out more about it.

What's the best way to start beauty videos on youtube?

I really want to start beauty videos on youtube, but I don't know the best way to do it. How do you get views of your channel and video's, and what's the best video to start with?|||You should probably make a few videos before you start posting them. Then you can usually get views for beauty videos just by tagging the right words, then you'll see it in related videos of other more popular beauty videos and people will click. Also, share them on facebook, twitter, myspace, etc. and people will watch them and maybe share them with their friends.

You should probably do a few different ones to start with so that people know you're flexible and won't always do the same thing all the time.|||Try Ist

Why do we perceive beauty that is not beneficial?

For example when you see a raibow, it is beauty yet does it benefit you?

Or a Waterfall, a beautiful bird, the Aurora Borealis

Why do we find such appreciation for things that do not help us at all?

What part of us is it that craves nourishment through witnessing beauty, even when it is seemingly useless?|||just one of those things that's part of being human i suppose. hmmm...well, birds like shiny things, too.|||probably because we feel calm, it's something strange it's true, but nature's strange anyway:)|||Sadists %26amp; Masochists find beauty in mistreatment. Doesn't mean they grab a pack of aspirin in case it all goes horribly wrong. We are all very sick.|||Perhaps it is something to do with our brains wanting us to be happy, and finding things that make us happy. I wonder if the concept of beauty is unique to humans or if some animals feel it too?|||human like moving colors....|||I think those come from the sense of awe. An awe of how it blows your mind. You can't even imagine how much water goes over Niagra Falls, and how fast. You can't imagine being it. It's efficiency. It's differentness.|||Experiencing beauty is *always* beneficial, especially for the soul. To think/feel that something that has no "monetary, material" "value" is not beneficial is a fairly dysfunctional attitude, at least to those of us who have successfully resisted being brainwashed by the psychopaths who "set" the "standards" :)))|||Why do we (not me) cheer a home run hit into the top deck - it doesn't score any more runs than a fly ball, that's caught by the wind %26amp; limps over the fence.

It's all subjective. We all have tastes and many of them don't benefit the individual or the species.

How else do you explain people supporting the Arizona Cardinals ?|||Beauty is not useless at all, as witnessed by your pretty avatar picture. We appreciate the beauty because it reminds us that we're just small wheels spinning 'round something bigger and also, happily, pretty. It can be very ugly, too, which we see even more often, so the pretty sights are pointed out and exclaimed over. Why not?|||i think we should not always think od benefit or loss... our mind wants relax... but today we all busy with our own stuff....

and every human being love to see these beautiful things and this natural beauty doesn't think whether its getting benefit when we see them.... :)

so just enjoy... why to mess with these kinda thoughts|||Instinctually, almost as a side effect of our intelligence, human's seek order and patterns. They comfort us by giving us some sense of permanence and security. I think this is at the root of our lust for beauty.|||We have values that help us make our decisions. If we didn't have these values than we couldn't make decisions. For example, we wouldn't be able to choose which house to buy, or choose which person to marry.

We still have these values even when we do not have a choice to make about something. In analogy, I don't forget how to drive when I'm not in a car.|||Dunno - but I saw the bird in your avatar in real life recently and I was absolutely gob-smacked!|||You've used examples from nature to describe beauty: Waterfall, bird, Northern Lights. These aren't useless, they remind us of where were from and how tranquil and relaxing it was to be there. Until some crocodile or tiger fancied having us for dinner, that is.

The part of us that craves the most is the part of us that knows it can't have. Bet you live in the city and have a hectic life.|||Do you ask this question from an evolutionist point of view ? If so beauty "must" be "for" something, so useless beauty should tend to disappear ... which is what we help to do when we pollute our planet.

On the other hand a waterfall is certainly useful to provide fish with a lot of oxygen, for example so it is useful to something. The fact that we -and birds etc.- find it beautiful is a by-product of our education.

This is complicated to explain in a few words.|||I think beauty DOES benifit us... I feel, myself, that its a useful thing because it makes us appreciate things more. Seeing a rainbow makes me feel well and happy; a waterfall birds etc also make me feel glad to be alive, and glad to be able to see them... I have no clue WHY this is so, I just know it is...

I think the part of us that craves this is our heart and soul.

Without beauty to behold, I think our total existance would be mundane, boring and shallow. There'd be no joy in life..in the world...Am I being silly here? Im sorry if you think I am, its how I feel...

Im glad I can see. Im glad there are beautiful things around me all the time. Sometimes if you had / have a near death experience or a close shave at death such as a car accident, or similar; you can start to see natures things for the first time ever (cos that's the effect it can have) It can really open your eyes and give you a new lease of life in general.

OR

when you go through dark periods in your life, seeing something wonderful like a rainbow (I mean, where do the colours come from..no-one said god had paint!) can make so much difference to your outlook.

Music also does this for me..If Im down, and I listen to certain types of music, it uplifts me...Im totally not a religious person, Indeed I dont believe in God at all, but I really do think that nature uplifts the soul...all beautiful things do...

I believe that if we all surround ourselves with things that we find beautiful, in our homes and our lives in general, that we will always feel good about stuff, never get the reason to feel down or suicidal, and I think that would be perfect... everyone happy,,,, what a great place the world would be|||beauty does benefit us but not according to your definition of benefit. i feel happy when i see a rainbow, for one thing.

What are favorite trees of Seniors to add beauty to fall landscaping?

Crimson maples, Bradford pears, oaks, sweetgum, hickory and sumac all add color and variety to our fall landscaping. What are your favorite trees for fall beauty?|||crepe myrtles: bright yellow

dogwoods: deep red

black gum: bright red/purple mix|||I love my big old oak tree in my front yard, but I don't like the acorns, and the squirrels that love them. The squirrels dig and harbor their acorns in the yard. My very favorite tree for Fall beauty is the Sugar Maple. It is a hard maple, and does not always stand up to high winds, but it sure puts on a spectacular display.|||We have a Crimson and Royal Maple as well as a Japanese Maple. The Japanese Maple has made it through 5 Wisconsin winters but we wrap it every year as they are not for our area. In a couple of weeks I like to drive through the bluffs and hills of our area because the changing of color is just breathtaking.|||Burning Bushes, Sugar Maples, all different colors of trees including the yellow ones, the red ones, even the Oak trees turn red some years.|||My favorite tree is the one under which is buried my late mother-in-law. I don't know the name of the tree but I live to keep it strong and its roots deep.|||Maple trees are beautiful.|||Dogwood trees are bright red in FALL also they are an all year round tree too with colors.. and flowers..cept winter no leaves ding dong... then you put stupid christmas lights on them...|||Sugar maples.|||I love the look %26amp; size of the Japanese Maple but it will not do well in my climate.|||I too, love the red japanese maple, unfortunately it doesn't grow down here in S FL.|||Red Maple!! What qualifications do you need to become a beauty therapist in Ireland?

I am applying to take part in FAS Beauty Therapy course which I think gives you an ITEC. It is 48 weeks. I was wondering once I have completed this will I be qualified to go on and work in a salon or will I have to do a course which I will have to pay for? I cannot get funded to go to college as my previous qualification is too high.

Also What is the salary like for someone starting out?|||There are many different ways. However bear in mind that for some treatments you will have to take extra qualifications (e.g. electrical treatments; botox etc..). After the ITEC you should start working as soon as possible as an assistant in a beauty center

How do I become a receptionist at a beauty salon?

I'm 46 years old, attractive but overweight, and my career aspiration is to become a receptionist in a beauty salon-taking appointments, restocking the dry towels and products, etc. I'm not kidding. I like hair salons, but I have no interest in working on people's hair. I'd rather be the receptionist. Me and my friend would like to start a mobile hair, beauty and photography business together.?

My cousin is a qualified hair dresser and beauty therapist. I'm a professional photographer. So the idea is, we would go the client's home where they would request however many beauty/hair treatments they wanted in order to make them look beautiful for a photo shoot afterwards. I was wondering about the technicalities of running such a business. Maybe whether we'd need a license or something? Thanks in advance.|||don't trust anyone in business.....

What are some good activities for a Sleeping Beauty themed birthday party?

My daughter is turning 4 and having a co-ed party. She wants a Sleeping Beauty theme - what are some fun activities I can do with the kids?|||Well dress up as Sleeping Beauty, maybe do something pretty with her hair, paint her nail - basically princess stuff.

For games maybe something like "Pin the tail on the donkey" with a princess twist.

You could watch the movie Slepping Beauty OR get some teenagers (siblings, cousins, neighbors) to do a little play of Sleeping Beauty! I really think she'd like that!

What is the most important ingredient of human beauty?

If we are just talking phisical beauty I would have to say it is eyes.

What do you think?|||I was going to say inner beauty, but indeed, eyes are the "place" where inner beauty shows through the most.|||the smile :)|||a mind?|||Self-confidence.|||i think is the inner beauty....|||Self esteem|||Individuality, for sure.|||there is no such thing as physcial beauty but inner beauty that make the outer look good... Then eyes and poise and conversational skill and tone of voice.|||It is definitely the smile. The smile can portray your entire personality to one that sees that smile. How do I go about getting a good job after graduating beauty school?

I was just wondering why people graduate beauty school and go to work for the Wal Mart salon when they could be working at a high prestigious salon making tons of money. Not that WM is bad or anything, it just seems to me like people might want a bit of a better start getting out of beauty school. And how much is the average salary of a beautician?|||i used to say the same thing when i was in school but the i graduated and realized most of the upscale salons you end up starting out as someones shampoo girl or guy .... and the most are booth rent which if you are just out of school you are lacking clientele and even if you have some clientele it may only be enough for a couple days ... so then you are just sitting there waiting for people to come in ... i work at a smart style inside a walmart and make alot more than most of the girls i went to school with ... i dont have to worry about making appointments because it is walk in only and we are almost always busy because everyone goes to walmart ... people check out and then see the salon and say ( i think ill get a hair cut while im here ) lol and then you have an instant client we work on min wage or commission so i am guaranteed a wage plus tips ... i take home around 1000. every two weeks some times more and i only work 25 hours a week ...|||you cant always start out making the big bucks and working at the nice salons. youve got to put in your time and build your clientele where you can. i worked for the place inside walmart, which is a regis owned salon btw, and it was a great starting avenue. once you get out of beauty school theres a TON of things youll learn. little tips and tricks, and high end salons dont always want to hire someone straight out of school that dont know the ropes. my first year out of school i only made 17 grand. but thats gone up a lot since then. you have to put in the time and effort to get to where you wanna go.

How to be perfect and find your inner beauty?

I know there is nobody perfect, but how we overcome with it, at least know how to be an almost perfect person, and what kind of characteristic that inner beauty require?|||Accept yourself as you are, flaws and all. I believe in perfect imperfection. And inner beauty has no characterstic requirements, I don't believe beauty has any requirements either. Be loving, kind, compassionate (I could keep going),even to strangers. Treat everyone with love and kindness. It's hard sometimes, especially with the a**holes ou there but it is possible. Physical beauty has nothing to do with it,in my opinion. People will see you have a glow about you, that there is something special about you. People may call it beauty, who knows.|||Your life is yours to live as you please. You may find yourself bound at times by body, beliefs, physically, and by social orders of society. The ideal is not to loose yourself in all the maze of disorder or to full and blindly follow. You must be conscious of these forces pressuring you from all sides. At times as a tree in a storm all will be lost if you do not have the strong roots to hold you grounded from the forces you will never control.

You are but one of the chosen few. You have the ability to live beyond the physical. In the physical world you may not be blessed and may be the deprived. Yet in the same life in the inner space that we have been gifted their are no limits. Their is no hunger, limit to the materials, or wants that you can not attain. In this space all can be blessed beyond imagine as their is no power that can control what is in your domain. You are the master builder with the powers of a God. You control the creation of this domain.

How will you build your domain? Will it be built with quality, truth, and honest hard work. A place of beauty, refuge, paradise, and peace of being. A place of understanding that growth and pursuit of perfection are the unshakable anchors of a fortress of eternal life and security. A place to visit when the realities of the physical world have drained your strength to renew your total being. A place to draw strength, clarity, understanding and the seeds of paradise to bring into the physical world. How will those seeds manifest. Will it be a priceless work of art that adds beauty to the physical world painted on relatively worthless materials. Will they be words of piece and tolerance leading to the ease of suffering of those in the physical world. These are the signs of our paradise leaking through into the physical world. Recognizing that although the trappings of the physical world are tempting at times it may be better to share the limited resources and only take the things you need. Is it not better to add than subtract?|||To lead a life of austerity to remain unperturbed calm meditation all will lead to near perfection. It is a constant effort and practice then gradually a sense of realization appears and then one gets the essence of inner beauty. In HOLY GITA it is clearly narrated/explained.|||You are perfect. Everything is as it is. Perfect. It is only our desire to see us or things as imperfect when we find we can not accept them as they are. (which is perfect)|||Imperfection is Beautiful. Start believing that; and you'll realise all your inner beauties...|||Know the laws of nature.

You will see the perfection and beauty.|||No Expectations always Humble.|||Stop the thinking to hear the voice of your inner beauty.

What are the requirements for going to a beauty school to cut hair?

I dropped out of high school because i got pregnant and i still haven't been able to get my GED yet.

what are the requirements for going to a beauty school and how much does the school usually cost?

i dont know what state i will be in as my husband is in the military.|||It does depend on the state. In my state you need to be at least 17 and have a high school diploma. My schooling cost me just under $16,000 and took 10 months to complete. Once you get to your new location I suggest you go to the local cosmetology school and ask the requirements and cost. In the meantime I suggest you get your GED. You can do this online or contact the local high school to get information on how to get it locally.

How do I tell my parents I want to go to beauty school instead of collage?

I relly have a passion for doing peoples hair. My parents know that and I haven't even mentioned going to beauty school before. How do I find some good coaching for beauty pageants?

I will be entering my first beauty pageant soon and I am a total amateur, I am really beginning to feel a bit over my head. I would like to find some good books/guides and coaching for this. And I am on a shoestring budget.|||Since it's your first, I would recommend reading the free online special report 10 Insider Secrets to Winning. It is available at www.WinningThroughPageantry.com. You can also register for a live Q%26amp;A call to have your questions answered for free.

There are also really good articles posted on www.ThePageantExpert.com.

Start with small local pageants to see if you enjoy them. They are usually free to low cost. Before you enter a pageant, go the year before and watch it. You will learn plenty about what to wear and what to expect than if you just show up the year you are competing.

Good Luck.|||You can find many experienced pageant coaches online ... some may or may not meet your budget. I suggest finding someone who will work with you on an ad-hoc basis on specific issues. Since this is your first pageant you may not want to invest too much money until you know this is something you would like to do in the future. There are plenty of good resources on the web that may answer your questions and give you a good foundation. Without some knowledge behind you it may be difficult to make good use of a coaches time (and your money).

What do you think of children competing in beauty pagents?

I say it's not really right because they are being judged on beauty sorta. But then again I say I have no right to judge because for all I know those children may enjoy it.

But I also think parents push their children to be "perfect" sometimes.|||Like in the show "Little Miss Perfect" (I don't remember the name, whether that is correct) on I don't remember the channel, probably WE, they are made up like adults, and I think that part is wrong. What are the physical characteristics of universal beauty?

the beauty that no matter where you go, everybody can't help but stare.

I read an article about this but VERY long ago, I am interested in it now but can't find it online, if you know it that would be great!|||Impossible. Note that different cultures also have their own looks that they find attractive, but this one works in all of them. Interestingly, "averageness" seems to be a big feature of beauty. be who you are!|||You should take the following steps daily to look great :

1. Exfoliate face and body

2. Shampoo and condition hair * + **

3. Wash face and body

4. Moisturize face*** and body

5. Use a face and/or hair mask once a week

* When shampooing, scrub deep into the roots of the hair to rid it of any grease or dandruff etc... and when conditioning, comb the conditioner through your hair to coat all strands and leave on for 10 mins to soak in while you exfoliate etc.

** When drying your hair, towel dry as much as you can so that you can get most of the moisture out of it, and dry naturally. Blow drying your hair all the time is damaging to it. After it has dried, you can straighten it or whatever you want but remember to use a heat protecting spray on your hair first.

***When moisturizing your face, use a light moisturizer as you do not want to load up on moisturizer or it won't soak in. You may use a slightly heavier one on your body though as there is a greater area to cover.

Hope this helps !!|||wash you face well, and moisturise, exfoliate once a week. On your body use a polish and then use lotion, and exfoliate often. For your hair brush it 100 strokes a day, and always dry it naturally - using a shampoo that's good to you personally.

I am writing a persuasive essay and I cant find when a little kid wins a beauty pageant how much money of the scholarship do they get? I also need to know how many kidss enter into one beauty pageant? One more question. How many parents think about or enter their little kids in beauty pageants on average? Hope you can help. Thank you!|||It depends on the pageant. Some have lots of contestants and some have only a handful. The prize packages are also different for every pageant, and usually the ones with the best prizes and scholarship amounts are the ones with more contestants, or the nationals where the kids have to win local or state pageants to get there. Typical scholarship amounts range from $100 - $1000 for a local, regional or state pageant, and anywhere from $1000 - $10,000 for a large national pageant.

What exactly is the difference between a beauty bar soap and body wash?

Is one better than the other?

Do you use both or just one or the other?

I'm asking because I've been using St. Ives body wash a while, but the other day I purchased 2 Dove Go Fresh beauty bars..|||Usually beauty bars are designed specifically for women. They are scented for woman's tastes and designed for women skin types. (Women usually have much softer skin then men.)

Body wash however can be used for both sexes.

I know that in certain cases soap tends to contain certain ingredients body wash may not. I prefer using soap over body wash because I feel cleaner having used soap but this is just personal preference.|||Myself being a Man. I prefer using lynx body wash than using a bar of soap Mainly cos It's less effort Bar of soaps are more for Spas and such I'm assuming a beauty bar soap would help heal stress.

What song should I sing for my Beauty and the Beast audition?

My community theatre will be performing Beauty and the Beast. We are asked to prepare a short song for the audition. I want either Belle or Mrs. Potts. What song would show my versatility and range?|||Well, it depends on whether or not they want to see you do something from the show. If they do, you should do Belle's song 'Home', which shows off a good range. If not, I'd go with something like 'Unexpected Song', which I believe is from Song and Dance, or 'I Could Have Danced All Night', from My Fair Lady. Both of those require a good range, and aren't too difficult.|||This is a very hard question to answer considering i dont know your voice or your range.

If you are an alto then some great songs to show it off are:

I'm not that girl (wicked)

Hit me with a hot note (sophisticated ladies)

On my own (les Mis)

Times like this (lucky stiff)

The one feathered tail of Miss Gertrude McFuzz (Seussical)

Soprano

As long as he needs me( Oliver!)

no good deed (Wicked)

Adelaide's Lament (Guys and Dolls)

Notice me Horton (Seussical)

Beauty and the Beast|||the song at the very begining, that bonjour song cause it has different vocal ranges|||I can't tell you what would show off your versatility and range without hearing you sing. If you are only interested in Belle or Mrs. Potts, I suggest picking a song that is similar to their songs, which might be a bit difficult. They have different ranges. In that case, just show off your voice. Show the directors what you can do!

I am auditioning for Beauty and the Beast in about 6 weeks. I'm singing "Some Things are Meant to Be" from Little Women, and "Storybook" from The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Oh, and by the way...you should never sing a song from the show you're auditioning for unless they specifically tell you to.

What song should I sing for my Beauty and the Beast audition?

Within the next two weeks, I'll be auditioning for my school's production of Beauty and the Beast. We have to do cold reads and also come prepared with a song to sing. I'm going for the roles of Mrs. Potts, Madame de la Grande Bouche, and Babette. Any suggestions for audition songs? Any other tips you could offer me would be greatly appreciated.|||Ok, 1st and most important,

DO NOT SING A SONG FROM THE MUSICAL YOU ARE AUDITIONING FOR!

It's pretentious. You should, however, sing a song in the same style or vocal range of the character you are auditioning for.

2nd don't just sing, perform the song.

3rd try "being" the character you want most throughout the audition. That is how I got cast as Peter Pan (which is always played by a girl - by the way). If you don't particularly care which role then show range by showing extremes of each character.

|||sing a beauty and the beast songg.|||You might check out this site, http://www.musicalnotesnmore.com/. They have synopsis of many musicals, including a section which details "Special Songs of Interest" or something like that. There you can see some highlight songs, whether its in your range (Babette and Mrs. Potts are down as sopranos, Madame da la Grande Bouche is down as a mezzo, so take that into account), and whether its more ballady or more upbeat.

Shows you should look into for audition songs: Cinderella, Oklahoma, Once Upon a Mattress, The Sound of Music, Singin' in the Rain, Pajama Game, Carousel, The King and I, My Fair Lady, The Fantasticks, Flower Drum Song, Annie Get Your Gun... that should get you started. Break a leg!|||I disagree with some of the other answers. I think you should sing a song from the show - it shows the director that you've taken the time to familiarize yourself with the material. I would sing "Human Again". All three of the characters you listed sing that song...and besides it's my favorite song in the show. When it's done right with all the harmonies, it gives me goosebumps!|||Maybe you could sing a song from Beauty and the Beast. That would show interest and dedication in the play.|||Sing the Beauty and the Beast song that mrs Potts sings at the end! How much money do you spend on beauty products?

How much money do you spend on beauty products? Like make up, skin cleansers, lotions, nail polish? What do you think you spend the most on?|||lets see.

on makeup- i don't usually spend too much on this. just like 6-10 dollars on things like blush, eyeshadow, foundation etc etc. i'll spend like 15-30 dollars on lip gloss though because i buy it from sephora or chanel.

skin cleansers- i'll usually spend about 10-20. i get the neutrogena acne stress relief or one from sephora.

lotions- i always get lotion from bath and body works. i love that store. so i spend about 7+ dollars on a bottle about...

nail polish- sometimes i go to a local drug store and buy one for like 1-5 dollars. like a cheapy polish. and if i really want a good color, i'll buy the chanel polishes for about 20 dollars.

i think i spend the most money on lip glosses. i would have to say it is my favorite item. but i also get stuff from benefit cosmetics. they have little kits that have a little of everything in it. like one kit is "big beautiful eyes" and another has eye shadows, lumination, and lip gloss. those are all about 30 dollars.

Lol, but usually, i think its about $20 or $30 per face cleanser and toners, $10-20 for eyeliners, $25 for mascara, and about $35 on foundation. I think I spend the most on facial stuff, like mudmasks that are $90.|||I don't know, but I buy my prodcuts individaully. What are your thoughts on the whole beauty pageant way of life for kids?

Do you have a problem with the way they take time out of school to practice when your tax dollars are spent to teach them?

Do you think it instills bad behavior (for lack of better word) to grow up thinking it's all about looks and not brain or self worth?

Or is there something positive that can be taken from being in beauty pageants?|||There are very few things that I find as morally wrong as a kid's beauty pageant. It breaks my heart to see 5 year olds wearing make up and curlers in their hair. The shows can instill complex (both superiority and inferiority) in kids and can really damage their self-respect.|||I think you ask a very good question. I can't watch these shows long but as I am channel surfing I pause and look at some of the show. In my oppinion I think the parents are nuts. a thousand doallrs for a dress, sprayed sun tans, false eye lashes, lip stick, flippers (teeth) practice, makeups. What are the preparing their children for. More Beauty Pagents ?

then they have a room filled with tiara's and banners. Lets face it, beauty is important, mostly on the inside and these parents are grooming their children for beauty on the outside. It sends a very bad message. If you'll notice all the mothers are plain and fat. So that tells me, they are instilling in their childres their own insecurties. To these people they see nothing wrong with what they are doing so the children will never know another way.

They will grow up to be spoiled little divas. That will never allow them to have a good husband, a great family, a good education, because this makes them narccistic. All that; will only matter in their lives is them. They will be spoiled forever. And that's not the right path to happiness.|||It is exploitation of the child. No doubt to fulfill some fantasy of the mothers! Help fulfilling the child's own interests and talents as well as a good education, is the highest goals a mother/parent can have!!|||Truth to tell I had no idea about this until my mother started watching Toddlers and Tiaras. I watch it periodically because it is so surreal. The values being taught and the vicarious living the mothers do through their daughters is grotesque. I think it is a terrible injustice to these little girls. And the expense makes me cringe. I cannot believe how much these clothes cost. I used to work at a children's home and I just add up in my head what that much money would provide for needy kids.

So my mother laughs in delight at how cute the kids are and I sit there with a strange fixed look on my face as if I am viewing a two headed calf in an old style carnival. It is certainly a study.|||i can't imagine what emotional pain those children must go through that will later affect them negatively in life. i think that children cannot handle that sort of stress and pressure. any child forced to go through fame, money, etc. turns out badly. michael jackson could be a great example. i think those are the main problems with it.|||I think it may make them vain, and it may make them a target for pedophiles.

How does the beauty i see in my idols, reflect the beauty in myself?

How much is beauty a part of success?

In business or in every day life.

Some of us are models, some of us are not eligible to take part in beauty contests, and some are just plain scary. It is said that a first good impression is a key to success.

So how much would the beauty factor weigh to have a successfull life?|||hundreds of studies have been done on this and it's really not open for personal opinions anymore. unfortunately, against the politically correct mafia, the beauty factor absolutely matters. the effects of attractiveness begin to show themselves at birth (parents favor cuter children - shown in research) and proceed into kindergarden (teachers favor attractive children and children like attractive teachers more) and of course high school (where attractiveness accounts for most of the variation in "popularity"). In the workplace, the same biases and stereotypes about attractive people hold, and some research indicates that people simply feel better around attractive people. Looking at an attractive face stimulates the brain in different ways (both male and female - heterosexual) than looking at an unattractive face.

it can be quite depressing, but just remember the absolute percentage of highly attractive people is only around 10%... we just think it's much higher because of the images we are bombarded with in the media of the most attractive people in the world. Some of us also have a cognitive bias to make "upward comparisons" and remember attractive people more than unattractive people...so we feel uglier than we actually are.|||too much than should be|||Donald Trump.. Need I say more?|||In business, beauty matters. It may not be fair but that's the truth. People always like to be surrounded by beautiful people.|||Depends on the career. Models, it's a big part. Brainy jobs like computer programmers and scientists, not a big part. Finanacial jobs like investment bankers and stockbrokers where image is a big deal, it's pretty important.|||it shouldn't

but pretty people are found to be more successful because people would tolerate them more than ugly people hence more experiences, better attitude, and more opportunities.|||actually too much i don't mean to say am pretty or something but where ever i go i can get easily cool jobs what ever i want to|||Beauty gets your foot in the door more. It makes things easier. A study showed people are just nicer to good looking people. But it has a backlash against it: men stalk you, your boss try to have sex with you. So beauty may get you in the door but only your brains and willpower will keep you there.|||Not to sure, we have more average looking people in the world than glamorous or pure ugly. You know what, forget it. I can't explain my thoughts.|||It opens doors but not a lot beyond that. after the door is open the remainder is based on skill, personality and ability. Unless your screwing the boss of course, But then the success only lasts as long as the boss does.|||The main reason beauty plays such a big role in success is the fact that people that are attractive tend to have a lot more self confidence. Thus, they are more outgoing, friendly and are happier.|||Good looking people tend to be better at social interaction. So it is easier to network and make allies. Confidence is a big factor in everything, physical apperance plays a big role in that as well.|||In certain businesses, it is a Minor Issue beside more essential issues....

A Computer Programmer is a soild example...

In other Businesses, it is an absolute Priority

Prostitution is a solid example....

Isn't that LOGICAL ?|||Depends on what job you have and in what industry you work in. But generally, successful life depends not only on beauty, but also on brains. If you use your brain correctly and you make the wright choices, then you can use your beauty. Don't forget the inner beauty, which this makes you worth as a human and makes you different from the others.|||First impressions are important; however for those of us that don't look like the stars it is not the only thing that matters. A good first impression is not just the physical one you must have the wining personality (at least during the interview) and that can make the interviewer rethink any impressions they may have had about a persons appearances. Of course you have even a better chance at a job if you have the qualifications that they are looking for.|||Its quite a lot important though not many will agree with me on that. But it really is.|||A lot..... I've seen it first hand. Look around you. I bet you can see that the pretty girl will get asked if she'd like a seat before the ugly girl does. It has been studied that people "take to" beautiful things including people. It makes us feel more comfortable. I love people watching and I've noticed this almost daily.|||More than you might think, studies show that good looking people often get the picked first, it's just natural part of life. It has to do with Hyman's inadvertent way of selecting the strongest genes to get th job done.|||Because first impressions last, beauty is a major factor in a successful life|||I would say at least 85%. I personally have seen it. A woman can have a masters degree and be perfectly qualified for a position, if a younger / more attractive girl applies with only a HS diploma, depending on the company and the new boss, the more attractive girl will get the job. I have seen people move forward in companies and leap over the "competition" because of their looks, not skill. Race, weight, height, hair, teeth, style of dress and even mode of transportation all matter in 2007.

It's just a hardcore fact, looks matter in American society. Perception is reality.

Just my $0.02...|||Beauty always helps but you there are a lot of very ugly and very successful business people out there.

How have Korean beauty standards changed over the years?

I know that in America our beauty standards have changed dramatically over the years. We from pinup models like rita hayworth, to supermodels like cindy crawford and naomi campbell, to the victoria secret angels like miranda kerr. I was wondering if Koreans have seen drastic changes in the styles and beauty standards in their country?|||Besides the trend that was changed all around the world there weren't really any more dramatic changes.

But lately, Korean people are more into the innocent kind of sexy than the full out sexy.

Stars like Shin se Kyung, all though she may have this innocent look, she still has another side to her. that's what people like these days.

But standards of Korean beauty could be either Kim Tae Hee or Lee Hyori.

What kind of beauty regimen is right for me?

I am going to be getting a professional job when I graduate from college %26amp; I need to get started on taking care of myself better. I have had jobs before where I didn't really care what I looked like, but working in a hospital has me rethinking my entire outlook on personal grooming. I've never really spent mush time on my appearance ... comfort being my main concern, but I am wanting a change. I am a stay at home mom and studying online so, I am going to use this time at home to work on my grooming habits. The questions I have are:

What beauty regimen is best for me? I have normal to dry skin, my pores are HUGE, i have what looks like tiny blackheads on my nose, sunspots under my eyes are appearing, and people say sometimes the area around my nose and mouth looks discolored ... wtf? I need to know what routine I should start now, to improve my confidence and overall beauty.|||It is great that you are starting now to look at a regimen before you get into the hectic time of a new job.

A very basic regimen should consist of wash, tone, and moisturizer for your face. You should do this routine every evening to remove any make-up. You can expand this face regimen into a daily shower in the morning to get yourself refreshed after a night's sleep. A morning wash, tone, mousturize will get your skin awake and the puffiness off your eyes. A balanced moisturizer is a must. If the moisturizer is too oily you will break out.

Once every two weeks (or every week) you can do an exfoliating scrub that will help sluff off the dead skin. I like to switch between a facial scrub and a masque. The masque helps to draw out impurities and nourishes the healthy skin below.

Make-up is applied lightly. Use colors that compliment your eye color. Foundations should be invisible. That means they should match your natural skin tone so that imperfections are smoothed out, but your natural beauty comes through.

Hope that helps. You can also get more information on my website listed below.

Good Luck!!|||natural beauty regimen is still the best,

wash your face with water and soap plus a organic cream, this will surely make your skin beautiful.

|||I think for your combination skin, first you need a gentle cleanser that won't dry your skin out, maybe a milky bar or moisturizing cream wash.

Second, a toner will REALLY help out with the blackheads and discoloration (try the brightening toner by boots found at target)

Third, a medium moisturizer during the day made for dry skin and at night, use a night cream.

Fourth, find an eye cream and some special sunscreen for the eye area.

Fifth, exfoliate once a week to get rid of the discolorations :) But no more than once a week because since your skin is on the dry side, it won't tolerate more.

Hope this helps.

What makes judges notice you in a beauty pageant?

Is there something extra you can do to make you stand out? Also does anyone have any tips for entering a beauty pageant? Thanks.|||You are noticed by your personality, poise and posture, and by how confident you are.

First, let me begin by telling you by about being under the lights. Stage lights make you look "washed out", meaning that it takes away color. Wear your more makeup than you usually do nut not too much, I believe MAC is the best not because of the name but because MAC is meant to be onstage. They have many colors so there will be something you can use. Use a little bit of white eyeliner on the inner and outer rims of your eyes to add an extra pop. Use full makeup meaning foundation, blush, lipstick, mascara, etc. However, if it is a natural pageant and during the personal interview) do not make it too obvious.

Now judges notice the winners right away. The winners always have beautiful posture. It shows that they are confident with their shoulders back, chin lifted, hips tucked, etc. Nervous people are hunched over and do not keep an even pace when they walk. During your beauty walk keep it slow and even, look at all your judges and the audience. Most importantly get a dress that shows of your good feature and hides your bad. Always smile and don not pick up your dress. If your dress has to be picked up it is too long. Just get you are dressed altered. Keep your arms by your side with a natural swing to it. Practice in heels, A LOT! You do not want to wobble on stage.

Practice on interview. Have friends and family members ask you questions. Be articulate and don not use slang. Remember to keep up on current events; you will never know what they will ask. Do not lie either. Do not make something up you think will make you look good. VERY BAD!

Practice all your optional, if you are doing them. Practice your introduction; you do not want to be stuttering when the first see you. First impressions are important. Keep in shape but don not do any crazy diets.

I think that is it if you have any questions you can email me.

Good luck, have fun, and SMILE!!!!

#4 good posture will do your body good and it makes your look more proffessional.

#5 nice make up don't over do it especially in the interview when they will be sitting very close to you.

#6 be confident or fake it because they want a girl who can accomplish any so act like it.|||i am pageant girl and to me the things that makes you stand out to the judges are a beautiful, bright, big (but not cheesy) smile, and a genuine, funny, and sweet personality. What is classic beauty and what does it mean to be classically attractive?

I mean, I have heard people say stuff like Grace Kelly is either a classic beauty or classically beautiful. I just need a detailed, elaborate explanation on this.|||Beauty is often correlated with facial symmetry.|||It means you always look beautiful, and it seems natural.

How do you explain the beauty of the natural world?

Sounds like God in action to me! Consider the dusty landscape of the moon and Mars. Even if you consider evolution and the good climate here on earth, that can't account for the beauty --- things can grow and multiply but why beauty? Think about the beauty of the sunsets, rainbows, butterflies, animals, flowers, lakes, forests, ocean, national parks like Grand Canyon, Mt. Rainer, Yellowstone, etc. Beauty requires an observer or it would be like painting a landscape in a dark room. You could throw paint on the canvas, but real beauty takes an artist who can see the work. What do you say?|||In science it is okay to say, "I don't know".

When you don't know something it is a poor idea to say, "This is proof of magic".

.|||Gee, what a "miracle" -- somewhat intelligent organisms that evolved on a particular planet have a totally subjective instinct to consider things on that planet that are beneficial to their survival "beautiful."

Not.

So it never occurred to you that beauty is subjective, huh? Or that there are just as many non-"beautiful" things in the world (decaying dead bodies, the aftermath of a flood or volcanic eruption, tar pits, etc.) as "beautiful" things that you've ignored? Or that we happen to like flowers and sunsets and such things because they are meaningful to our survival, or to fair weather, etc.?

"Sounds like god in action to me!" Sounds like a rather ignorant argument from incredulity to me.

Peace.|||Guess I'm not on the same page. First, I don't feel the need to explain, I just accept the natural world. Having spent a lot of time in it, I would argue that just observing it one can appreciate the beauty of it, however getting out into it, you no longer really see the beauty, you become a part of a miniscule piece of it. And it isn't all that beautiful close up. I also don't agree beauty requires an observer. It will be what it is whether or not anyone observes or appreciates it. Cause and effect my friend, sunsets, rainbows, all of it. I agree with the gist of your statement. It's all Glorious with or without my appreciation.

Peace.|||Just because something is considered beautiful that doesn't mean goddunit. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder--it's an entirely subjective experience. While some consider deserts ugly and bleak others consider them lovely. Some people find great beauty in an outcropping of rocks. So do we leave it up to the individual to decide, based on his individual perception of beauty, what is or is not made by god? Are lush valleys of god but arid wastelands not? Obviously it's a fallacy to claim beauty is evidence of god(s).

"You could throw paint on the canvas, but real beauty takes an artist who can see the work."

There are plenty of blind artists who create beautiful works of art. http://nebaart.org/2007/artists.htm|||"What do you say?"

Beauty is subjective. The Grand Canyon is a massive hole in the ground, nothing more. Sunsets are beautiful - but they're the result of air pollution, which is primarily man-made. I find roses ugly flowers, while a good number of people find them beautiful; on the contrary, I love orchids, which some people can't stand.

Why do you feel that something must be attributed to your god in order for it to be beautiful - especially when 'beautiful' is purely subjective?|||So creationist theory is limited to things which we're taught to think look nice. So the stuff lurking at the bottom of the sea evolved? I think bug-eyed toy dogs looking hideous, can I add them to the list of things your god didn't make?

Also, surely if a god made Earth he/she/it is also responsible for the entire universe? So the dullness of the moon or mars is his fault too? If his work is limited to Earth then how do you account for the beauty of the universe?|||"Sounds like God in action to me! "

Yeah, that's the problem.

You obviously think you are so wonderful and amazing that the universe must have been made by an intelligent being like you, strictly for the benefit of humans.

Now think of the scale:

Imagine the entire human race is bacteria clinging to a grain of sand...

Now drop that grain of sand in the ocean... now see if you can find it again.

There are hundreds of billions of stars in our galaxy, many of them with planets orbiting them, but our galaxy is just one... of hundreds of billions of galaxies.|||Beauty is subjective.

"You could throw paint on the canvas, but real beauty takes an artist who can see the work. What do you say?"

It's like abstract art. It's paint thrown randomly on the canvas but we're snooty art critics who refuse to accept that. We must find beauty and meaning in the chaos.|||Can't explain it. Its something that you have to experience for yourself. I believe in evolution, but I also believe that God's hand is in the proccess, and anything that God's hand touches is beauty.|||I call it by its actual name-reality.Beauty is a piss poor reason for believing in some god.I'm sorry you lack the knowledge necessary to enter reality.I realize it's a faint hope, but you can learn if you give up magical thinking and try using rational and critical thinking skills.|||you don麓t ne茅d always explain things.

A lot it just comes down to symmetry, ratio, and contrast.

%26gt;%26gt;Beauty requires an observer

In other words, you define beauty AS a perceived thing. That doesn't mean it was intentionally created. How come your God didn't create our eyes to see infrared or ultra violet? As a Rorschach inkblot test shows, people will "see" what they want to see.

You also can't get beauty unless you have something to contrast it against. "Beauty" only exists in the natural world if you can compare it to enough stuff that's mundane and boring. So your argument collapses down to "I know that God made the universe beautiful because so much of the universe he created is far from beautiful", a complete contradiction.

Oddly enough, we DO have an evolutionary explanation of the pattern-recognition mentality that creates the impression of "beauty" in the first place:

Then why do Pollack's paintings hang in a museum?|||I think the "Rainbow" stands out since our common ancestor Noah saw it for the first time.

And God then created a beautiful arching bow of light, where orange, scarlet, green and blue simultaneously curved as they carved through the firmament. As Noah watched in wonder, behind him a wooden ark of the past and before him a luminous arc of the future, God gave Noah His promise...

Whenever mankind's skies would darken with untoward deeds; whenever the tapestry of humankind's collective performance would grow heavy from sinful pursuits; when their atmosphere would roll and their world would crash with the thunder of violence and the turbulence of injustice; when dreadful flashes of denial, dishonesty, cruelty and depravity would rend society asunder; when the victims' blood and the tears of the oppressed would fall in hopeless torrents and disappear beneath the sullen sodden soil of man's conscience -- there would yet appear a redeeming rainbow.

Never again will He preserve the rose in a crafted pot whilst He torches the rest of His garden The embattled light of truth, justice and divinity will never again be thoroughly blocked from filtering through the collective clouds of mankind's perversity. There will always be a righteous minority within mankind who, despite the vapors, will be ready and willing to accept the burden and beauty of arching bravely and steadily heavenwards, to touch some of heaven's radiance from beyond, then curve gracefully back towards the earth -- thus banishing the gloom from within their arc and filling the threatening atmosphere with the glorious spectrum of colors that are manmade reflections of God's truth and hope for mankind.

There will always be, God promised, at least a minority that remains faithful to the seven laws that G-d gave all mankind; seven colors through which humankind can survive, thrive and spiritually illuminate their planet. God's promise guarantees their perpetual existence and their ability to shine, to ultimately broaden their bands of influence and become the righteous majority...|||Blind evolutionists cant see the beauty and intelligence of it all. Satan has deceived the world as written in God's Word.

Why is physical beauty important to human beings in the first place?

Almost every culture around the world has some standard of beauty for each gender.

Why is that?

Why do cultures have a standard of beauty?|||When one meets your standard of beauty, chances are more likely that they will meet other standards that are important to you as well. Most important, familiarity. Someone who conforms to the "beauty" standard of your culture is most likely OF your culture. So personal image is a quick (but certainly not infallible) way to determine if someone is worth getting to know just a little bit better.

By the way, beauty standards are not limited to humans. Many animal species have even stricter standards on "beauty" than humans do.|||Yes, Dentist was going in the right direction with that one. Your instinct tells you who is healthier and has more dominant/ well bred genes. Our instincts look for longevity in other human being.

Did you know that before you even say 'hi' to some one, all of your senses have already reacted. Including scent. People use scent to mate, oddly enough. (Unlike dogs we don't walk up and sniff eachother's ***, haha) But it's something that goes on in our brain before we even realize it.

If, however you did mean this in more of a philosophical way. Every one has different ideas of beauty. And certain cultures look for things in other people that will preserve their culture or race. So if someone is traditional looking to your race, you're more likely to be attracted to them. I'm sorry but it all goes back to science. The type of beauty that you're talking about in girls is tall, thin, nice bust and big hips, model-like. Right? Well let me give you an example of why men find that attractive without even knowing why. Tall = good genes. Thin = Healthy. Nice bust and big hips = Child bearing worthy. Model-like = could be wealthy, good preservation, wanted by others. All natural human instincts for having the best mate.

Honestly, this question should have been in psychology, not philosophy. hahah|||Genetically, men and women are (supposedly) hardwired to seek out a physically attractive mate, for purposes of reproduction and protection - as in, men with broad shoulders and square jaws are physically strong and will be fertile and will take care of their partner; women with hourglass figures and large breasts are perceived as young, fertile, and able to birth and take care of children easily.

Otherwise, the standards rose out of each culture's beliefs and lifestyles, and often in pure superficiality.|||Same reason all the five senses are programmed to be attracted to whatever they find appealing to them. Although this is one factor, it's also true that the media programs our minds through movies and television, making us believe what's in style, who's sexier than who, what's cool and what's not, etc.

If I were around 15 years old I'd probably wanna look like Justin Beiber, if I were 30 I'd probably wanna look like Brad Pitt.

Just imagine if nobody watched MTV or anything on tv or in theaters, the whole world would see beauty as an entirely different thing! I'm almost 100% sure it would be seen for what it truly is, and there would be no confusion within your thoughts of what you find beautiful, and what you find not to be.|||It use to be that women were judges on 'breeding' i.e. big breasts meant good milkers for children ... big hips meant easier birthing ...et cetera

Then as man's lifestyle improved ... women were objects to be used for sexual pleasure and then let go to drift in the common currents of apathy ...

NOW women have to reach for the stars in SO MANY ways that perfection is impossible but men have driven the female to this level of impossibility because males now fear that the tables are being turned on them and they shall have to march to the tune that females will play ...|||It's important because it's good, and what's good is always important, especially to beings who, by nature, desire good- i.e. human beings.|||Some people find animals (like horses) attractive...

DO NOT WAX YOUR FACE!!! waxing is one of the worst things to do to your skin, it causes much abrasion and redness, and the hair grows back faster and thicker. The same goes for shaving. The best thing that gets hair out and gets it out good is threading.
