How do I go about getting a good job after graduating beauty school?

I was just wondering why people graduate beauty school and go to work for the Wal Mart salon when they could be working at a high prestigious salon making tons of money. Not that WM is bad or anything, it just seems to me like people might want a bit of a better start getting out of beauty school. And how much is the average salary of a beautician?|||i used to say the same thing when i was in school but the i graduated and realized most of the upscale salons you end up starting out as someones shampoo girl or guy .... and the most are booth rent which if you are just out of school you are lacking clientele and even if you have some clientele it may only be enough for a couple days ... so then you are just sitting there waiting for people to come in ... i work at a smart style inside a walmart and make alot more than most of the girls i went to school with ... i dont have to worry about making appointments because it is walk in only and we are almost always busy because everyone goes to walmart ... people check out and then see the salon and say ( i think ill get a hair cut while im here ) lol and then you have an instant client we work on min wage or commission so i am guaranteed a wage plus tips ... i take home around 1000. every two weeks some times more and i only work 25 hours a week ...|||you cant always start out making the big bucks and working at the nice salons. youve got to put in your time and build your clientele where you can. i worked for the place inside walmart, which is a regis owned salon btw, and it was a great starting avenue. once you get out of beauty school theres a TON of things youll learn. little tips and tricks, and high end salons dont always want to hire someone straight out of school that dont know the ropes. my first year out of school i only made 17 grand. but thats gone up a lot since then. you have to put in the time and effort to get to where you wanna go.
