Your first step would be to visit the USPTO (United States Patent %26amp; Trademark Office) website and do a search to ensure its not already patented.
Then go see a Patent attorney. It will be very expensive, and take a long time to get a patent. You could do it yourself if you have the knowledge, but it is a very complicated process, and if you do it wrong, then its worthless to you. And don't use one of the fly-by-night companies you see on TV that promise to patent your ideas, they are mostly scams.
