Is there a difference between a freckle and a beauty mark?

My husband and I are having a disagreement and I can't find anything on the internet. Is there a difference between a freckle and a beauty mark or are they the same thing?|||A beauty mark is actually a mole. You usually don't get just one freckle, you get many. Moles are generally slightly larger and much darker, ranging anywhere from a light brown to almost black. Freckles are usually quite light.|||The answer was thorough but wrong. As one other answers says a beauty mark is there at birth. Freckles are due to sun exposure.
