How can someone ban child beauty pageants in the United States?

I know this is harsh, but so are what some parents are doing to their little girls. How does this idea eventually become a bill and then a law? WHO is going to ban these beauty pageants?

I need this for a persuasive speech and I need a solution and how can the United States ban child beauty pageants?|||Not all child beauty pageants are bad.

There are two main types of child beauty pageants:

Glitz-The types of pageants that are on tv are the glitz pageants. I think that these types of pageants are horrible and should be banned.

Natural-The natural pageants actually aren't nearly as bad as you think they are. These pageants are totally different from glitz pageants and the focus in on inner and outer beauty.

As for the differences, make-up is encouraged in glitz pageants while most natural pageants don't allow make-up for contestants under the13 years old. Swimsuits are rarely worn by children in natural pageants but that is a common occurrence in glitz pageants. False teeth, wigs, and other beauty alterations are frequently seen in glitz pageants but not allowed in natural competitions. Contestants in natural pageants are rated largely by their interview but glitz participants are mostly judged on their appearance.|||Contact your congressman. Or do it on a State level first. Contact your State legislature and explain why you think beauty pageants are harmful to children. Do you have an age cut off in mind?

Contact child psychologists see what they think. You are bound to find one that agrees with you.

If you got States that ban certain kinds of fats and other weird things, you may have a chance.|||Honestly, this is a very tough question to answer for your persuasive speech, like I gave a speech dead on about should or should not the kids get the H1N1 flu shot, but on the subject of child beauty pageants, they should be banned. My reason: it was exploited on T.L.C. (The Learning Channel) and by the looks of it, there could be a rise of child molesters trying to harm girls who are in small beauty pageants. If it is not stopped, then the US will have a load of peds coming into the beauty pageants and see those girls, trying to get an idea. This is bit of a hard argument to swallow, if you know what I am saying.|||The only way that you could get anywhere with that is to prove that these children are in danger and/or being abused. It would not be possible to show that this is the case with each child, therefore

the pageants themselves could not be banned. As much as I am against government interfering I think I would make an exception for this

Peronally the parents of these children need parenting classes, they have no clue. I am appalled at how stupid they sound when rationalizing their decision to enter these children in pageants.

1. She loves to be on stage

2. She is a natural entertainer

They come up with all sorts of excuses

These parents are doing it for themselves, not for the kids, There are so many reasons for this being wrong, not the least of where the heck is their taste? Do they think that putting big hair wigs, makeup and costumes that would look overdone on a hooker is attractive? I serioudly doubt that these parents have IQs above double digits.
